Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 was very successful in Romania. With almost 9,000 photographs submitted by 267 participants, the jury had a challenge choosing only ten to send to the international WLM jury. The top ten photographs captured the diverse style of monuments in Romania, from a traditional thatched roof farmhouse to the golden fleur-de-lys ceiling of a modern concert hall.
First place went to a bird’s eye view of Casa Sfatului, a museum located in the center of old town Brasov. The golden fleur-de-lys ceiling of Ateneul Român won second place, and the peaceful cemetery and church façade of Biserica St. Nicolae won third.
