Hello and welcome to the final post on the old Wikimedia blog! The new blog is integrated with the new Wikimedia Foundation website, where you’ll find a lot of material that will look familiar to long-time readers of this blog: project and product updates along with interviews and news from across the Wikimedia movement.
Our new home offers us the ability to show related pieces, streamlines some of our social media offerings (like preview images), and helps people more easily learn more about our movement through other pages on the site.
Of course, we’d still like to hear from and get your perspectives onto the new blog. If you have an idea that could be a blog post, or would like ideas on things you could write for us, please email digitalmedia[at]wikimedia[dot]org.
Here’s how to follow the new blog:

  • Via email: If you’re already signed up, great! Nothing will change, and emails will resume soon.
    • If you’d like to sign up, please head over to our sign-up page.*
  • Via RSS: You can update your preferred RSS reader with this address: https://wikimediafoundation.org/news/feed/.

While we’ve brought some old posts with us to the new blog, the primary archives will remain here. There are over 2,800 posts to peruse, from the amazing winning photos from Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 to the person who created a new Wikipedia article on every day for an entire year to the impact of Prince’s death on Wikipedia.
Thanks for reading, and we’re looking forward to seeing you at our new home.
