In France, Wiki Loves Monuments was very successful, with nearly nearly 1000 participants uploading more than 27,000 photogrpahs. With all the gorgeous depictions of France’s national monuments, the jury had the difficult task of choosing only ten images as the finalists. First place went to a striking image of the Grande Galerie at the Château de Maintenon in Eure-et-Loir.  The other finalist images depict France’s rustic countryside and the interiors and exteriors of several of the country’s elegant castles.
