What’s unclear is not the definition of the groups, but how you explain the difference in the metrics. If you don’t, then those metrics may have no significance.

Thanks for the comment! The two control groups had the following characteristics:
Control A: new editors who met the basic criteria for invitiation (10 edits in first 24 hours, not blocked), but who were not presented to hosts as candidates for invitation, and who did not subsequently stumble upon Teahouse and participate.

Control B: new editors who were invited by Teahouse hosts, but did not participate.

What’s the difference between the control groups? Just saying the fact that teahouse having 200% more edits then the control groups isn’t that impressive when the control groups have a 400% difference.

Congratulations on what sounds like a succesful pilot project. This is one of the more interesting accounts of an editor recruitment/retention program that I’ve read on this blog so far.
