Well, I think si5s (http://www.si5s.com, also http://si5s.org) would be a better rendering of ASL than SignWriting. Of course some tech work would be needed to make si5s workable in electronic media.

Note: I am a native ASL signer, and although I've read some "textual" materials written in both SignWriting and si5s versions, I am not conversant in either versions.

Great job, Steve! Here's hoping for even greater acceptance and use throughout the world. I know you can't stop here, though. No project is complete without future improvements and we look forward to the next SignPuddle downpour.

Thank you, Gerard for writing this - it's a good snapshot of some of Steve's forum discussions in the conciseness of an article.

Of course, not everything can be put into one article. I look forward to a Wiki discussion. :-)

This is an amazing idea, Stephen, that will get the Wikimedia community closer to its goal: enabling every single human being to share in the sum of all knowledge. For obvious reasons, Wikipedia has been rather inaccessible for people with hearing disabilities, and your project could finally close the gap.

Please keep us informed about the goings-on! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your success!
