I use Wiki all the time and never fail to be amazrd at the amount of info it holds. BUT I use a lot of the info for writing anddouble check some of the info with other sources. I am too busy with my own work to get into editing but i am sure there are people who will find it of interest.
Best wishes

I won't be editing Wiki for quite awhile. I'm getting a second degree and I forgot how much studying was required at the University level (it's been over 40 years). However, I was perusing the talk on the National Landscape Conservation System. It's pretty good but some key areas were left out of the listings. In Washington County, Utah there are 13 new wilderness', 2 National Conservation Areas and a large number of wild and Scenic Rivers. One of the Wilderness areas was transferred from BLM to the National Park Service.

I'm the GIS Specialist (mapper) for the Saint George Field Office (Washington County) of the BLM. If someone will email me at the above address I can get the names right away and the acreages by Monday November 9th or Tuesday the 10th.

Nice to see a new wiki again. After Usability and Strategy this one hopefully will be a nice addition to the non-content portfolio, which will be increasingly important in servicing and further developing Wikimedia.

@Ulf Larsen: I also question where are the videos that German Wikimedia shot to promote Wikipedia editing...??? http://blog.wikimedia.org/2008/12/18/wikimedia-to-produce-online-video-tutorials/

Good initiative! I have had similar thoughts for quite some time and I have used various opportunities to help new users master Wikipedia. I have also made three introduction webcasts in Norwegian for new users, which is linked from the relevant topics on the help page.

I do however believe that the best approach is to offer courses, so interested users can get help right away when they try to edit for the first time. I will keep on doing this and I will also try to participate in evaluating and translating content from the outreach wiki into Norwegian.
