Hi Elitre,

the French project is a community initiative. In this case we'll let the French community figure out whether they want to continue to use it or not. This we do without prejudice to future initiatives of a similar nature, as relationships with businesses need to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

In general, I think posters from Commons are an awesome idea, and it may be that at some point we'll make arrangements with a print-on-demand provider to provide this as official Wikimedia functionality.

HTH,
Erik

It may sound a little bit off topic, but I'd like to read an official statement/opinion about http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projet:Impression/en too, if any.
Thank you,

E.

Brianna, actually, you can print even from MediaWikis that don't install the extension, using a bookmarklet: http://pediapress.com/collection/

So, even today, you can combine content from any Wikimedia wiki, Wikitravel, or indeed any other up-to-date standard MediaWiki installation, into a collection to generate a printed book, PDF file, or OpenDocument file.

Almost "exclusive" partnership with this or that company on various services connected to Wikimedia projects is awful.

Geez, de.wp gets all the goodies :)

Is PediaPress really happy to do printing for *anyone whatsoever* who installs the extension?? That's pretty keen of them...
